In 2004 and 2005, Clyde Bergemann received the request from Harbin Boiler Works to provide them with an on-load boiler cleaning solution for their four 1000 megawatt (MW) units at the Huaneng Yuhuan Power Plant.

This project was for the first ever 1000 MW unit in China, which we subsequently delivered during 2006 and 2007. As a result of the significant size of the boiler, a unique tailored solution was designed, comprising of long retractable sootblowers with more than a 17-metre travel capability. Due to the requirement for such long travel, the design of the sootblower was paramount to ensure the necessary reach.

Since this successful project, Harbin Boiler Works and Clyde Bergemann have maintained a long-term and successful cooperative relationship. The professional knowledge and experience of Clyde Bergemann in enabling plants to operate more efficiently and to increased levels of sustainability means we continue to work closely together on solutions, no matter what the challenge.
