Operating Principle

Clyde Bergemann has several types of retractable sootblowers available for cleaning heat exchangers mainly within power, waste, biomass and industrial boilers. They are designed to deliver optimum results within the strict requirements of the different industries and will ensure trouble-free operation.

The SMART Helix Water is a powerful retractable sootblower with a focus on the selective cleaning of convective heating surfaces, using water in boilers fired with waste, biomass and RDF. These types of boilers often have low steam parameters for sootblowing. The SMART Helix Water is the most advanced and flexible on-load cleaning system for best cleaning results in the convection area of the boiler, with a unique dual-motor design which allows independent and variable traversing and rotational speeds. The speeds can be varied at any time for targeted cleaning. Through the precise control of the nozzle positioning with the so-called “Go-Stop-Clean-Go” mode, the targeted area between the tubes is cleaned with a focussed water jet.
