Clyde Bergemann Supplies DRYCON Dry Bottom Ash Handling System to Hassyan Clean-Coal Power Plant, to Support their High Environmental Impact Mitigation Standards
Harbin International Engineering Logo

Hassyan Clean-Coal Power Plant, located within sight of the World Expo 2020 venue in Dubai, comprises of 4 units, each with 660 MW GE/Alstom ultra-super critical boilers.

It is the first coal fired power plant in the GCC region. The plant is designed to be “best in class” in terms of efficiency, thus minimising fuel consumption and flue gas emissions – it adheres to the most stringent environmental impact mitigation standards ever adopted for a coal fired power plant. Therefore, working with the best suppliers who support these standards, is critical.

Harbin Electric Company chose Clyde Bergemann to supply a DRYCON Dry Bottom Ash Handling System to the plant – a steel plate conveyor, used to automatically convey and cool the bottom ash by means of ambient air. The DRYCON is designed to operate under difficult conditions, like extreme temperatures and strongly fluctuating quantities of bottom ash. Dry bottom ash removal by the DRYCON helps the operator to meet the most stringent environmental standards.

Delivery of the project was completed in 2021 and the plant will benefit from increased boiler efficiency, reduced coal usage and reduced CO emissions, due to Clyde Bergemann technology.
