Operating Principle
- The lance tube with high-performance nozzles is helically moved into the flue-gas path
- The blowing process begins shortly after the nozzles have passed through the boiler wall
- On reaching the prescribed travel, the direction of movement changes and the lance tube returns to its rest position
Technical Summary
Clyde Bergemann has several types of retractable sootblowers available for cleaning heat exchangers – all designed to deliver optimum results within the strict requirements of the individual industries to ensure trouble-free operation.
The retractable sootblowers offer excellent results in cleaning performance. Using the most effective cleaning nozzles in the market, cleaning impact is maximised with an optimal amount of blowing media. Retractable sootblowers may come optionally with a specially designed multiple blowing pattern (multi-progressive helix indexing) system. By indexing inside the gearbox using a clutch, problems such as pinion and gear rack failure found in other systems, are eliminated. They are also suited for hazardous area conditions.

- Stainless-steel feed tube, polished to minimise leakage at stuffing box connection with lance tube assembly

- Integrated gear motor for simultaneous axial and rotating movement

- Travel monitoring by two limit switches
- Wall box with sealing elements corresponding to boiler pressure mode
- Sealing and scavenging air piping with dedicated fan (optional)
- Integrated droop correction for defined guidance of nozzle head trajectory close to the optimum sootblower centre line
- Add-ons: SMART Set for external adjustment of throttle disc / Self-adjusting stuffing box packing
